   Thanks to this, millions of years ago, the trees seemed to be preserved and perfectly preserved to our days, and since 1985 they have been protected by the national park.
   A unique historical monument - the petrified forest of Lesbos - is located in the western part of the island and covers an area of ​​about 150 km2.

   This is the largest stone forest in the world. Preserved roots, hemp, branches and even leaves of ancient trees give an idea of ​​how large were the individual representatives of the local flora. The diameter of some trees reaches 3 m, and height - 10 m.
