The reality of the landscape is hard to believe. It seems that before the eyes of Africa or America, but not Europe. Such an atypical landscape for the Old World can be seen in the north of Spain, in the province of Navarre, next to the orchards and olive groves.
The landscapes of the semi-desert Bardenas Reales are formed by soft clay and sandstone rocks, which, under the influence of rain and wind, have turned into freakish canyons, plateaus and hills. The flow of tourists arriving to see this wonder of nature was so great that in 1999 a national park with an area of about 42 thousand hectares was created here.

The real symbol of Bardenas Reales is the cliff of Castel di Tierra, which under the influence of erosion changes from year to year, gradually deteriorating. Another object that gives a unique color to the park is the NATO base in its very center.
It has been there since 1951, training shooting and bombing are regularly conducted here. Such close proximity of the military facility and natural monument is not to the liking of some activists who annually march in Bardenas Reale marches protest against the presence of the army in the national park.
